Hi, I’m Leah
I’m owner of Follett Photography, and I’ve been photographing children in Early Learning Centres since 2014.
Over that time, one thing has become very clear to me — the best photographs don’t come from posing or pressure. They come from children feeling safe, relaxed, and free to simply be themselves.
That’s why my approach to childcare photography is built around calm interaction, familiar environments, and natural play.
A Natural, Child-First Approach
I don’t use traditional studio backdrops or heavily posed setups.
Instead, I work within your centre’s existing environment — using outdoor play spaces, natural light, and everyday learning moments to capture authentic expressions.
This approach allows children to stay comfortable in their routines, resulting in photographs that feel natural, real, and unforced.
Sessions are guided gently, with time for each child to settle and engage at their own pace.
Why this approach works
Children respond best when they feel safe and unpressured.
By removing the expectation to “pose and smile,” I’m able to capture:

- real expressions families recognise at home

- Blue Card approved
- Fully insured
- Experienced with NQF supervision requirements
- Committed to secure, privacy-first image handling
All galleries are delivered through secure, encrypted systems, and children are only included with appropriate permissions.
Where required, I also support children who need extra time or sensory consideration, always working alongside educators to ensure a comfortable experience.
